BCLUK hosts discussion on the future of digital money in London
The Business Club Luxembourg–United Kingdom (BCLUK), in collaboration with the Embassy of Luxembourg in London, hosted a panel discussion on “Stablecoins, Instant Payments & Tokenised Money: Perspectives on the next era of financial infrastructure” on 10 March 2026 at DLA Piper.
Bringing together representatives from the regulatory, banking, legal and digital-asset sectors, the discussion explored how new forms of digital money are moving from concept to implementation. Speakers examined the role of stablecoins and tokenised deposits, the evolution of payment infrastructures, and the implications of emerging regulatory frameworks in both the European Union and the United Kingdom.
The panel featured Karen O’Sullivan (CSSF), Sovon Chatterjee (HSBC), Matthew Osborne (Ripple) and Sophie Lessar (DLA Piper), and was moderated by Chris Hollifield (Luxembourg for Finance). The exchange highlighted the growing convergence between traditional financial institutions and digital-asset innovation, as well as the importance of interoperability, regulatory clarity and practical use cases.
The event also underscored Luxembourg’s role as a European hub for digital finance, supported by a strong regulatory framework and an active ecosystem of financial institutions and fintech companies. The close relationship between the Luxembourg and UK financial centres continues to provide a strong foundation for collaboration in this rapidly evolving field.
The discussion was followed by a networking reception, offering participants the opportunity to exchange views and further strengthen connections across the Luxembourg–UK business community.
